Recycled Office Furniture

The term “recycling” congers up images of paper, cardboard and aluminium cans being thrown in the yellow bins ready for pickup night, all the while doing our bit for the environment. What many of us don’t realise is that office furniture, in particular the office workstation, is a recyclable product as well.

The workstation design hasn’t changed much over the last few years. The functionality of the workstation hasn’t changed either. Certainly the basic structure hasn’t changed. What has changed is fabric colours and textures as well as paint colours. Unfortunately for most businesses, this has meant that an office refurb with a change in colour schemes has relegated the existing workstations to the rubbish heap. Well, at least until now.

Our Goal

One of Gapcomm Interiors main goals is to take that workstation that was otherwise headed for the rubbish tip, replace the old fabric with new, modern fabric and give it a fresh lick of paint. A facelift for the workstation, so to speak. Then reintroduce it back into the office workspace, at a fraction of the cost of a new workstation. What’s not to like about that? A workstation, that for all intent and purposes is brand new, for up to 70% less cost. Not only do business costs come down, but the environment benefits as well.

Benefits of Recycling

There are many benefits to recycling office furniture. One of the most obvious benefits is cost and this cost is determined by a couple of factors. Is the furniture going to simply be “touched up” or is it going to get a complete makeover.

Touching up means to clean the workstation, repairing any defects and painting over any scratches. Fabric and paint colours stay the same. By far the most cost effective method. Savings of up to 70% can be achieved using this method.

The other method involves completely replacing the workstation fabric and/or applying new paint. A cost saving of up to 50% and a much better end product than simply touching up. One that suits your office perfectly.

The other obvious benefit is environmental. Prolonging the life of a workstation means that less trees will be cut down, less aluminium and steel will be needed, and the environment will benefit as a whole. Recycling also sets a great example for your companies employees. Showing that your business is serious about conservation and waste reduction.
